Goods management in uCoz E-shop

If you do not have many items – say up to 50, or you don’t have any ready-to-use lists or price lists – you can add all entries manually.
To do this, click the link on the main page of the installed module.
Before you add goods, you need to create at least one category via Control Panel.

Adding of new entries
Basic fields when adding a new entry manually are as follows:
- Category – category of an item. Split items into categories because it helps customers find goods in the shop.
- Name – name of an item or a service.
- Manufacturer – here you can specify either a company or a country where the item was manufactured.
- Brief description – 255 characters about an item. Several most important characteristic features. A brief description is displayed to the right of the image on the list of category goods, and on the main page of E-shop. HTML codes are not allowed.
- Item description – here you should describe a product or a service in details. Customer’s desire to buy an item often depends on the description. Grammar and spelling mistakes, bad-quality images – all these alienate prospective buyers.
- Item images – upload as many item pictures from various perspectives as possible. Pay attention to the quality of images. To upload a new image click the empty square with the inscription «Click here to upload a new image»
- Friendly URL – search engine friendly URLs are formed by the system automatically on the basis of item name, but you can also enter the necessary URL manually.
- HTML page title – title of the page. You should give unique intelligent titles to your goods, for better ranking of the shop by search engines. It is not formed automatically!
- HTML meta description – the field for page meta tags, used for search optimization. It is not formed automatically!
- Item type – there are three types of items, and one of them has two subtypes:
- tangible product - file item (that needs to be downloaded) - electronic code (e.g. for the activation of a card, i.e. you do not need to download it, it is just sent in an email message after the payment) - service
Select the necessary type in the drop-down list. The fields below will change depending on the selected type.
If an item is a code: List of electronic codes – enter all codes for this item. Use the following as the separator:

If an item is a file, you will see the field where you can upload the file to the uCoz server or to specify a link to the file.
- Price — the price at which you sell the item;
- Incoming price – purchasing price; fill it if you want to know the profit at the end of the month.
- Old price - here you can enter the price that will be displayed as old and will be strikethrough.
- Unit – unit of item measurement (pcs, kg, m...)
- Weight – weight in grams, can be used for delivery rate calculation.
- Art.No – unique item code
- Availability (or item expectation date)
- Warranty – item warranty
- Custom field 1…3 – these fields can be used for any your needs. By default 3 fields are enabled but you can change the number in Module settings.
- Item options – you can hide the item by means of the corresponding checkmark.
After you have filled in all the fields, click «Add».
Later, when you edit items you will see two additional links:
Find description near Item description and Find images near Item images. These links search in Google descriptions and images on the basis of item name specified in the Name field.
Management of goods via Control Panel
has a number of useful options.
The most useful is group processing. You can upload items of a certain category and assign to them personal prices.
To do this open “Goods management”, select the necessary category in the left column, mark all items with a checkmark and change prices via the bottom panel.
You can do the following with the marked items:
- Invert – select vice versa
- Activate – make visible if they are hidden
- Hide - make invisible (Items with black ID on the list are visible items, with red ID - hidden.)
- Remove - remove.
- Save changed prices – apply all price changes that you entered manually.
If you want to change the structure of categories then the group moving feature will be useful:
There is also such feature as replacement of one word in an item name by another. It can be useful when a manufacturer decides to rename a line of products.
